THE AUTHORITY OF THE BIBLE

THE AUTHORITY OF THE BIBLE

Only the Bible declares itself to be the Word of God. The meaning of “Holy Bible” = a ‘sanctified or sacred book’. There is no other authority for our belief. It reveals the whole plan of God to us and we are called to believe, accept and respond in faith in order to be acceptable to God. It was given by God through the work of inspiration. 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

While there are other claims as to who God is and what His purpose entails, there is only once source endorsed by God which He Himself affirms to be from Him! “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made and all the host of them by the word of his mouth”, Psalm 33:6-9 …. Also: Isaiah 45:18,19  “For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.” The Bible is the means by which the Creator chose to reveal Himself and provide us with a record of His purpose.
